There is a lot to cover right now about how BTS is taking over the world. Particularly the U.S. But since I’m sure everyone has already heard the news and seen the videos I’m just going to give my two cents about the happenings lately:
11/19: The AMAs
WOW. First of all, I am so, so happy this happened for them. It is really amazing to be part of something this big. This is a huge moment for Asian artists everywhere. We all know that BTS didn’t pave this road but they sure AS HELL are continuing to widen it. They have made such an enormous impact in the past year, it’s truly incredible. People all over the world have taken notice of the boys due to their appearance at the BBMAs back in May and now because of their AMAZING AMAS PERFORMANCE! I am hoping this will stifle stereotypes in the near future about the Asian communities and bring people together rather than separate them due to cultural differences or language barriers. I wasn’t particularly happy with the majority of the interviews they had because the questions they were asked honestly were shit. And a lot of the hosts talked to them as if they were children or had no intelligence. I just wish people had done their research and seen that BTS is about bigger & better for the whole world. They are deep thinkers who care about society and especially the youth of today. It irked me that the media geared these interviews towards “teeny boppers” when ARMY is made up of people of ALL ages, genders, races, EVERYTHING! Asking who their celeb crush is or who the most annoying is just proves the American media wants to feed us shit. Those questions are funny but they have no value and aren’t really showing America who they are and what they are about. Anyway. BTS have proven that music is TRULY universal and it belongs to everyone and it is definitely one thing we can all share and love together. They have such heart and have worked so hard since debut and it really makes me cry to think of all the good they are doing for people all over the world. They are a perfect example of “started from the bottom, now I’m here”. What an amazing family. And don’t forget that they have partnered with UNICEF for their #LoveMyself #EndViolence campaign! Real inspirations. I look up to them - & they’re younger than me!

11/27: Ellen
I honestly wasn’t even ready for them to be on Ellen. I have been a fan of her show for years and we all know she is THE BEST. She has such a heart of gold and always makes her guests feel so welcome. I was so excited for this interaction. I kept thinking to myself “WHAT IF SHE GIFTS THE AUDIENCE FREE COPIES OF HIXTAPE?!?!” because I like to feel pain. I was a little surprised that the interview they aired was so short! But I’m happy to see that they enjoyed themselves. HOW BOUT THAT moment when she asked if they’ve ever hooked up with ARMY?! Tae had thee best reaction, omg (although I was nervous how ARMY would react, let’s be real). It was really great that she understood that the music is what is important to the boys. There was more behind the scenes footage of their appearance that was posted to EllenTube. CAN YOU IMAGINE BEING THOSE LUCKY FANS WHO GOT TO SEE THEM INCHES AWAY FORM THEIR FACES?! Check it out here:

11/29: Jimmy Kimmel Live
For a while I was living vicariously through a fellow East Coast ARMY who was lucky enough to attend the outdoor concert at Jimmy Kimmel & the AMAs. Her fan cams had me screaming (& crying, ok). Bless everyone who got to go to these events because those of us who didn’t are eternally grateful for your videos. I stayed up late to watch the off-air performances from Jimmy Kimmel’s YouTube channel and I COULDN’T SLEEP because they performed all my favorite BTS classics and I got so pumped. Save Me will never not be my all time favorite. I was super hype to see them having so much fun and engaging the audience. PLUS THEY LOOKED SO GOOD UGH. Check out some footage of the boys’ performance:

11/30: James Corden’s Late Late Show
Okay, honestly this was probably my favorite show they went on because this was so hilarious. I love to see them having so much fun. The language barrier doesn’t seem to be an issue and it’s really, really great to see them flourish and enjoy themselves. Everything about this interaction makes me smile like a damn fool. It’s just a relief to see them have fun after the round of shithole interviews they had to deal with and it was refreshing to watch. James Corden is a great host and he is clearly a fan of the boys:

12/1: MAMA Awards 2017
WHAT A NIGHT. This was really one for the books. Not just for BTS but for all the other great artists who won awards and had killer performances.
CAN YOU BELIEVE THEY WON A DAESANG TWO YEARS IN A ROW?! Hats off, ladies and gents. They continue to slay the charts and break records. They really do work so hard and have the best fanbase. It’s just like a really huge family around the world. I’m so proud how far they have come and where they are going. So many happy tears :’)
I also really love the extended dance breaks in this MIC Drop Remix performance! I was so hype I forgot about my math final, y'all. And EVERY time I hear that Cypher 4 intro I LOSE MY MIND. That was one of my favorite tracks that they performed when I saw them on the WINGS Tour.
Here’s a list of all the winners from MAMA 2017. I want to throw a shoutout to my girl HEIZE! She truly deserves those awards. Much love!

12/2: Melon Awards 2017
ANOTHER great round of performances by our boys! I really, really love the contrast of the two shows with their stages. MAMA was darker and had a more upbeat vibe and also a sort of “fuck you” attitude. Whereas Melon brought us the softer songs and more meaningful choreography. And just look at the color of this stage during DNA. I. Am. In love.
I can watch Jimin perform to Spring Day for the rest of my life on repeat. It’s just so beautiful. I am also really pumped that they performed YNWA! That song hits the feels every time. I love that they have so much meaning behind everything they do. They are really working hard to balance the world with fun, color, love, heart, compassion, strength. It’s so beautiful to watch them transform and spread so much good energy. We need more BTS.
Let’s not forget our mans SUGA bringing home that producer award! His dreams really are unfolding before him and how great is it that we get to watch and support him?! He deserves it!!!
